![]() By Leeanne Utiger If you are one of the many people that may unfortunately suffer from either acid reflux disease or heartburn disease, then the information in this article could benefit you and your health. In this article you will learn how to control any problems you have with acid reflux disease, which foods you should avoid if you suffer from acid reflux disease, and which foods you can quite safely eat in your everyday diet. Maintaining a healthy and appropriate diet, one that you have full control of, is what will help alleviate acid reflux disease and hopefully eventually cure any acid reflux disease, as well as prevent acid reflux from happening again. A healthy diet is good for all of us regardless to whether we experience acid reflux disease or not, yet if you are one of these sufferers of this condition, it is of a higher importance to keep an eye on what foods you are including in your diet. Foods to Avoid with Acid Reflux Disease There are some foods that you must learn to avoid when you suffer from acid reflux disease, or in the very least, moderate in your diet. If you do not think you can completely eliminate some of the foods from your diet that I am going to mention, you do need to learn how to control how much of them you eat. Foods that contain high amounts of fat are not healthy for anyone to be eating regularly in their daily diet, and for people that suffer from acid reflux disease, these foods are even a more no-no. Foods that contain high fats can often cause acid reflux, and in no way control it. If you want to begin to have a diet that you have control over, it is suggested you eliminate these sorts of foods immediately. Even limit how often you eat these foods, as they are what you should avoid as much as possible to help with acid reflux. Other foods you should avoid when you suffer from acid reflux disease can be of the following: You should avoid citrus or acidic fruits. These types of foods can include oranges, lemons, tomatoes, grapefruit - this is because the extra acid or citrus (which is acidic) can create further acid reflux. If you enjoy these fruits, try to control how often you include them in your diet. There are also some vegetables you should avoid if you have acid reflux. These vegetables to avoid on the food table are: mashed potatoes, raw onion and fried French fries. The French fries speak for themselves basically. They are high in fat and as I have mentioned earlier, fat is not recommended as a part of a controlled diet for a person who has acid reflux. You should also try to avoid the flowing foods in your diet, or as I have mentioned already, find a way to control how often you include the following in your daily diet. Chicken Nuggets Ground Beef Sour Cream Milkshakes Ice-cream Cottage Cheese Spaghetti with Sauce Macaroni Cheese with Cheese Sauce Coffee Alcohol Chocolate Doughnuts Corn Chips Regular Chips There are more foods you should learn to avoid if you suffer from acid reflux, but this a reasonably detailed outline of what you should avoid or in the very least learn to control. Acid Reflux Diet A healthy diet for a person that suffers from acid reflux can include a wide variety of healthy foods, and foods that are low in acid and citrus. Sodas are not healthy as they are obviously full of acid - lemonade and cola are no-nos. Introduce many fruits and vegetables into your daily diet, just stay away from the fruits and vegetables I have mentioned above. Broccoli is one vegetable that can in fact help relieve acid reflux, so bear this in mind. Try also adding herbal teas into your daily diet. Chamomile, Ginger and Spearmint teas are all very good for people who have acid reflux. A lot of this comes down to commonsense. Once you have learned what you should avoid in your diet, you should then be able to conclude what is safe for you to eat if you have acid reflux disease.
